Our plant pick of the month is Flowering Quince, which is a deciduous shrub known for its red, pink, salmon or white flowers that bloom from late winter into very early spring.

This multi-stemmed deciduous tree is rounded with a columnar habit. The tree features a stunning bark that exfoliates as it matures, and the trunk turns a reddish brown. In mid-summer with its dark green leaves it develops camellia-like white flowers. Foliage turns a bronze- purple color in the fall. The stewartia is an excellent specimen tree that grows up to 30’ tall and 15’ wide. It does well in morning sun and partial shade. Avoid areas that get hot afternoon sun.
